in england you are given an exercise book- (not and a book about exercise it like a note book) and you HAVE to copy down every thing they write on the board and you HAVE do questions and stuff in your book so i was just wondering if in america you dont have to do that. well thats what i heard

Uh...what? We don't HAVE to do anything in class here. It's just like, why go to college/university if you're just going to sit through class and twiddle your thumbs.

Sure, there are lots of times that I don't take notes just because I don't find the lecture "note-worthy" but there are times when it's clear that you should be recording the information.

There's no set standard in America, really. That notebook thing sounds pretty friggin' awful, though.

i have never had to make notes, its just good practice to do so they only make the slower kids take notes really as its hard for them to take the info in all at once.
