IN abortion debates, why do so many people ignore the medical risks of pregnancy?

Are they unaware that every pregnancy carries risks like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, placenta previa (which can lead to hemorrhage) and toxemia?

Do they not see how subjecting a person to these risks against her will is a gross violation of her autonomy? Do they not know what side effects an abortion has? There are physical, emotional and financial consequences to abortion, yet some people think it's just a "get out of parenthood free" card.

Yes, the getting out of parenthood is the part that can parallel a man's experience, but is it fair or reasonable to ignore all the other aspects of abortion and cherry pick the little bit that works for their argument?

If men want to get out of parenthood, they will have to undergo some physical trauma on par with abortion and pay a few hundred dollars (whatever an abortion costs in their location).
THAT would make it equal. That's what they are asking for - equality - right?
Silent way: No, criminalizing abortion will not equalize things.
Messiah: "pregnancy is almost always a decision, not some random disease or defect"
Then how do you explain the vast number of unplanned pregnancies?
Apparently a lot of people do not make a decision to become pregnant, they only make a decision to have sex - if they considered the potential consequences we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Eoghan, I offered a opt-out solution for men that carries consequences equal to those that women experience when they have abortions. Did you miss that part in your eagerness to insult me?

They don't want to face facts. A woman has to assume some type of responsibility no matter which option she chooses.

Lambik - eoghan hijack a thread LOL! You aren't supposed to call him on that.

as I said in an earlier post its always the same thing with you pro choicers. It's always the health risk aspect of abortions, not the abortions as birth control aspect. Ignoring the fact that abortions as birth control is used a hell of a lot compared to abortions for high blood pressure(?) doesn't mean that many women use it in that way. Face it, the majority of abortions are for superficial reasons (eg too many shooters one night, yada, yada, yada, and now i'm pregnant) and it's degrades life.
