improving my 100m sprint time?

hayy guys. Im 15 and have never done athletics or anything.. just to clear that up. At school i never do any good in the swimming or cross country carnivals at all really. However, i always do pretty good in the 100m sprints at the athletics carnivals and want to pursue this. I know it sounds silly, but i want to really excel in something and this seems my best bet. My current time is just under the 17 sec mark, which usually gets me through to the finals at school.. but is never good enough for zone. the girls that go to zone are getting more like 15-16 secs. So i want to improve my time. Other than constant practice... any ideas on how to achieve this? Like even excercises that would improve my leg muscles or my fitness levels i guess. I have wii fit btw.. if there are any excercises on there that u think would be of use to me feel free to mention which ones :)
