ImportGSM's "Configure my phone for..."

ImportGSM offers a $20 option to configure your E61 for T-Mobile Internet and MMS. Just how much work does this save? Does anyone know if this messes up Java capability at all?

you can do it yourself for free from the nokiausa website. most of the time the phone will automatically pull the settings, but if not you can go to nokiausa.com and under support you can send the settings over the air to your phone.

Isn't all newer Nokia smartphones come with pre-configured settings? When you try to access the internet, a setting will be determined from your SIM card. My old 6681 had that.

That sounds like the settings for T-Mobile Internet, and the wap settings are for the basic T-Zones, both of which should be loaded into your phone automatically when you pop in your SIM card.

importgsm.com's "service" for loading any configurations like that into your s60 when you buy from them is nothing more than a quick way to get $20 more out of you. Hell, they could just send the phone without any settings at all, but when you pop your SIM card in and magically have your settings (thanks to the phone, not importgsm.com), then they look like they've done their customer well. It's a waste.
