Importance of baseball managers as compared to coaches in other sports?

My belief is that baseball managers play a smaller role in their team's success than do coaches in basketball, hockey or football. I think the one-on-one aspect (pitcher vs. hitter) of baseball takes most of the onus off the manager, while other sports' coaches have to juggle lines, draw up plays, and rest players as needed throughout the game.

I'm not saying managers don't matter, but I think their importance is often overstated. Your thoughts?
