IMO this will be the last good GTA game

It's really the same game engine over and over again. It was nice to see GTA hit the new generation of consoles, but IMO it can't be improved any more. There might be a semi-sequel similar to vice city/san andreas with additional types of transportation and a new story, but I doubt there will be a successful GTA V. At this point I think just about everyone's had it with the same types of missions: drive here, do this, escort this person, kill everyone in this warehouse, steal this car, etc etc etc. The only thing that made this game semi interesting was the revamped engine with the new physics and the cover system (which I used a total of like 3 times throughout the story mode.) I think the next one that comes out will be on this generation of consoles and it will be too much like the previous games only with new gimmicks tacked on and a new story line to go with it.

Just my opinion, what do you guys think?
 
there was a huge following past the above-view versions to 3D on through GTA IV, I doubt anyone will fall off the bandwagon. with the kids only getting older, they will be able to purchase the games themselves, thus always keeping the franchise alive, IMO. yeah, it's the "same game", but it really isn't. Next step will be going virtual and being inside Liberty City killing hookers
 
I thought CJ was a total bitch, but another black guy with a good personality wouldn't be so bad.
The day a Spanish protagonist is in GTA is the day I won't buy it.
 
With such a huge fan base install as GTA has, I doubt they'll stop making them, even if they do start becoming more repetitive.

Just look at Madden, they release a new game every year with updated stats, cool new menus and a few new gimmicks, and there's usually a line to pick it up the night it comes out.
 
the last good one? nah. there's sooooooo many things that can be added (or brought back) to the game to make it better.

-character customization (getting fat/broly/haircuts/tattoos/etc)
-more modes of transportation (bmx bikes, skateboards, planes, tanks, parachutes, etc)
-being able to go into EVERY building
-car customization
-weapon customization (chrome 38's with laser sights, grenade launcher attachments, etc)
-more weapons (should be able to ANYTHING as a weapon, like beating a cashier with their own cash register)
-having a crew (gang, whatever) to command (including promoting people, etc)
-more minigames (go-kart tracks, miniature golf and driving ranges, etc)
-being able to play the story mode in co-op (with like a crew of up to 6 people)
-being able to purchase property/open businesses (legit stuff, as well as illegal stuff like chop shops)
-rival gangs/crews, so going into certain parts of town will automatically make you a target for gunfire from people other than just cops
-being able to make friends or enemies with other crews, based upon how you treat them (going into business with them, taking their shit over, trying to kill them all, etc)

and that's just the stuff i can come up with in a few minutes. there's a huuuuuuuuuuuge list of things that can be added, if you think about it.
