PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is not pleased with the way a movie about his work turned out.
Filmmakers screened "2 Americans" Wednesday night in Phoenix. The MCSO cooperated with them during production.
It focuses partly on Arpaio, and partly on a 9-year-old girl whose parents were arrested during an immigration raid.
Producers say they gave each side equal time, but their goal was to show the impact the current laws have on families with members in the US illegally.
"We gave a lot of time to the sheriff, going behind the scenes with him to get his perspective," Valeria Fernandez told 3TV.
Arpaio's office called the movie "simply a very biased look at the job this Sheriff's Office does enforcing the immigration laws of our state."
Others coming out of the screening called it "touching."
"I cried a few times just because it showed the impact of separating families," Micaela Rios told 3TV.
"What's happened is so sad. The movie portrayed it very well," Alice Bendheim added.
