Imagine how the world would be whining today if Truman had used his backup plan

to end WW2? Saw on the History channel last night, show about the invasion of Japan. Truman said after the 2nd nuke drop that if the Japanese didn't surrender he was prepared to drop a nuke a day until they were all wipedout or surrendered. The builders of the nukes had already been told to start production of as many as possible when the Emperor gave up.

That would have been mass murder. Truman said a lot of funny things he didn't mean. Besides it would have contaminated the atmosphere so badly that it would have blown over us as well.

Imagine how many of us wouldn't be alive if our parents and grandparents had died in the horrific invasion of that country that would have been the only other alternative. Or should we have sat down at the peace table and given them everything they wanted so we could all live on cloud nine, smoking dope everyday and watching clouds pass by? Causing the deaths of all those who died before to be for nothing. hey, that kind sounds like where we are today doesn't it? Maybe there is some truth to this, learning from history thing.
