I'm writing a novel that I have been working on for a long time but have decided to take a break from it for a few weeks. I have lately been writing short stories to get my creative juices flowing again. This new one I'm starting is a murder mystery who the main character is a nerdy girl who uses her knowledge to solve the mystery. I need a name for her and I keep seeing her as an Evelyn. Her personality is very smart and sweet. She is the type of girl who from a distance seems very dark and mysterious and to some extent misunderstood. She has brown hair, blue eyes and glasses. As for her social life, she finds being so smart she doesn't quite fit in with the "honors kids" but doesn't really fit in with the goths either so she is simply a misunderstood outcast. The issue is that my friend who always edits for me was picturing her as a Grace and I want my readers to see what I see and the character's name is a big part of that. What do you think?
Beth might also work. When I was simply thinking hypothetically and hadn't actually started writing yet, her name was going to be Beth but then I changed my mind to Evelyn. Do you think Beth would work?
I am instating a rule that you must pick a name that is listed here. Thanks!
