From a listeners perspective I would say not being able to tell when the media is being truthful or providing erroneous and fictitious information (i.e: the news clip Hannity showed on FOX news saying it ws a massive crowd gathered for Palins book signing, It was later determined it was not for the book signing but a video from the campaign of 2008; Hannity tried to make people think Palin was drawing exceptionally large crowds. Another Hannity episode; several stock videos were cut and pasted and aired but an alert person spotted climatic differences in the video shown and called their bluff. Another very common trick used by Hannity and Limbaugh both is use part of a persons comments cutting them off without allowing the entire thing and then making it sound like something else.
There is a difference between news reporters and talk show hosts - make this one of your points. We need to be sure news reporters are truthful and hold them accountable for distributing false, misleading or unverified information, we can never expect much truth or credibility for talk show hosts. Consistent with this people should be made aware that the comments of talk show hosts are paid remarks of the host and his/her guest and should not be taken as fact.
