I'm without transportation.

It's a shame you're not living in a safer, gentler time, when hitchhiking was an acceptable alternative.

A couple of friends and I used to stick our thumbs out and just find out where the rides would take us. We ended up at a picnic in Mexico, at a jazz concert in Monterey, at a lakeside resort, and oodles of other interesting places. Admittedly, we were lucky. Only one semi-bad experience, which we were able to talk ourselves out of.

Wouldn't want to try it nowadays, but those were some good times.

Sorry for your current transportation options, Unforgiven. Hope most of whatever you need right now is either within walking distance, or offers home delivery.

While you're at the store, steal a shopping cart. And try to nick an engine off some old dude's lawnmower.
Shopping cart + Lawnmower engine = Instant car!

I don't know.

I don't know anything about cars.

First I'd try, it would turn over, but now it doesn't even do that.

1987 Toyota Celica.

It ran great until it snowed a few days ago. Then it had a little trouble starting, but not much. Today it didn't start at all.

:yeahthat:

If that car is not even clicking it is either your battery or your starter. You might be able to get it going to get it to the mechanics if you take a hammer and bang on the starter, then try to start it. Check for loose connection in your battery if it is that.

If you were closer I would come down and fix it..:)

Silk: the way he said it, I'm assuming he cranked it for a while, which would mean that the battery is dead. So the starter works just fine.

It could be anything, really; fuel pump, coil or other ignition component, injection system, or even just a fuse. As far as I know, it is quite rare that the injection system ever has problems; the fuel pump is a more common problem (they just wear out after so long). There are ignition components which will also fail after a while.

One of my brothers had an '86 Celica, which is the same car, pretty much. He did have problems at one point which were very similar to yours, if I remember correctly. I'll have to call and ask him what he did to get it going again.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, hook a battery charger up to the battery and charge it back up. Can't really do anything if the battery's dead.
