dialouge, what do you think? I'm a young teen playwright and I really like Restoration comedy, and I think that the shallow, hyprocritical and very funny world and characters of Restoration comedy in particular can parallel high school society. So I thought of writing a Restoration-esque farce set in a modern day high school. The thing is- I don't know if I should write the dialouge using late 1600's dialect or modern teenage speech. I'm not sure if using the old-fashioned language would be seen as inventive or just weird and unecessary. But on the other hand, I don't know if I could create that very important Restoration style of wit without heightened, insinuating dialouge (which we all know most teenagers can't speak!) I'm not sure if I could be witty enough with modern speech. What do you think I should do? Go with the 1600's speech or keep it all modern?
