I'm trying to use Elgg?

I'm trying to set up a social networking site with Elgg. Can anybody help me out with this?

I need to know EXACTLY what I'm supposed to do to get it up and running, in as simple language as possible.

I've looked all over the Internet for an article that explains how it's done, but haven't found anything telling me how to do it.
