It's an older RPG style game. The main splash screen features a knight in armor which is entirely red/orange, with a red/orange backdrop that looks like fire, and is carrying a green sword. If you play the campaign the name defaults to Sir Daedelus I believe... You have to conquer individual territories to beat the game. The map of territories seems like the area around Greece or somewhere in Europe (although it's theoretical, I'm sure).
The gameplay itself consists of placing units on a grid which highlights in yellow. You are only allotted "x" amount of units to place per fight and there are also stars which you can use "x" amount of, each one denoting a champion/king type of unit. I know the king is gilded in gold armor, horse, etc and gives an aura to surrounding units with appears to be a blue/white checkered flag which provides a bonus. The units start as peasants and follow upgrade trees using tiles, going to halberdiers->pikemen, knights->swordsman, catapults->trebuchet, archer->crossbow->hunter, horseback->cavalry->knight/champion, to king... etc. The tiles are 4 different types, one is adorned with an axe, another a suit of armor/breastplate that looks wooden, another a book, and finally a blue wisp/tornado. These tiles are used to upgrade individual units and are earned after victories.
When moving units, a large yellow arrow appears. Horseback units can charge and attack all units in front of the one you select. Also, the catapult->trebuchet->cannon attacks do area damage, usually landing in a plus (+) shaped figure. There is also a mage I guess you can upgrade to that can do the same thing with a fireball-type of attack, also has a lightning attack that hits randomly across a 4x4 grid and does extensive damage...
I know it's strange that I can remember all this and not the name of the game. I've tried google, I've been searching the app store, but I haven't had an iPod in over 2 years so I can't remember the name and it's fairly obvious it's a favorite of mine. If you can remember or you know, god how much I would appreciate it if you could tell me. If you could point me to some type of iTunes/App store listing of all the apps ever made (doubt it's been compiled but why not ask..) that would also help immensely.
