Im trying to knit a scarf, please help me with yarn length and other relating things:)?

im trying to knit a scarf and im planing to buy yarn at ac moore. what brands of yarn is good? how long and how many balls of yarn should i get if i wanna make a really long scarf? abouttt 8 foot? (in general) thank you! :) btw first time trying to knit a scarf.
