Ok, so here's my situation. I"m 20 years old, living at home, going to a community college, getting ready to transfer to a university next fall.

My parents have fallen on bad times in the last year. They borrowed money from me excessively. At this point they owe me around $3500. Every time they borrowed they promised they would pay me back. I earned all that money while working as an EMT. I was laid off from that job recently, and I have $0 right now.

However, my parents are still on bad times. IN fact, they are about to go through a bankruptcy in court. I really need all that money I worked so hard for though! What in the world can I do?? There's no way they can pay me now. I really need it though. I feel as if I wasted all my time at my job.

Now I have to go off to school...where's the money I was supposed to be saving up for my car? They have it all!

I just need to know what mindset I should think of this as. I feel so cheated right now. My brother hasn't given my parents a dime, even though he is also 20. Instead of working, he spent all his time at football practice.

Dangit...I dont' know what to do.

Grin and bare it. You helped your folks, and they are going thru even harder times than you. You have your life ahead of you, a lot of time to earn. They have their life behind them and will have to work even harder and longer to catch up for their end years. You did a good thing.
You seem to be disciplined, so keep your nose to the grindstone and work so you will never have to put your kids thru this. Good Luck.
