Okay, so a friend mentioned this author to me earlier, but I forgot the author's name and googling the general premise of the stories I was told about has failed. This person may or may not still be alive, writes science-fiction short stories, and once listened to the reading of some other author's work (being bad with names I also forgot this author's name, but I think it started with an "R"??) and threatened to bite off his nose if he ever wrote any more stories. He is apparently slightly crazy, according to my friend. (oh and before you ask me to ask the friend, who told me about this author, I can't. He's busy and probably won't remember.)
Some of the stories the author who I'm looking for wrote were:
-a guy who calls his home phone and has a second him answer the phone. This second version of his self then takes over his life and eventually kills him (or so I'm told)
-a man and a woman who lead very boring lives and basically do nothing end up on another plane of existence, in a forest, where they wander aimlessly until they meet each other. They fall in love, but having done so ended up no longer doing nothing, which I guess they weren't supposed to do because I think that's how they got there in the first place, and then they are reduced to particles.
I'm not sure how accurate these accounts are, as I was getting the information second-hand and might not be telling it to you properly, but hopefully it rings a bell for someone. I'd appreciate even a guess as to who this author might be.
Thanks!
