QUICK QUESTION

I'AM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 2006 KAWASAKI NINJA 250 WITH ABOUT 2000 MILES THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT IS SALVAGED. NOW I KNOW THE LAWS WITH SALVAGED CARS BUT IS IT THE SAME WITH MOTORCYCLES?

I RODE TH BIKE AND IT RODE FINE, IT'S ACTUALLY IN A GOOD SHAPE JUST MINOR SCRATCHES FROM BEING LAID DOWN.

DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING AND IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO BE CHECKING BEFORE BUYING THE BIKE?

THANKS!

There was a good article on salvage bikes in a recent (this past summer) issue of Motorcyclist. Try the magazine's website and see if they have it available online or scout your local used bookstores for a copy. I can't remember which month it was in exactly though.

If the bike checks out ok with an independent mech (not the seller) and the price is right, I say go for it & enjoy. Realize though that most dealers will not accept a salvage titled trade in, their liability risk in the USSA here is too great already and the best they'd do is break it up for parts. So if this isn't a bike you want to keep very long, maybe best to ante up for a regular title good condition bike.

I've heard these 250 "Ninja-peds" are great fun. There are spec racing clubs for them if you want to get into competition on the cheap.
