I rode an MV in 05 and immediately knew I would likely never own another japaense bike (except a kawi). After the MV I got the 1098 because I really wanted to own a Ducati, the bike fit me, & I had been lured by an Aprilia guy to give a V-Twin a chance. Now that being said, when we ride the bikes with problems are always 1 of us 3 Ducati guys...but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Oh and my second bike is another MV and will be here tomorrow...just wanted to ride an I4 again.

congrats Dev...must be nice to have 2 or more bikes to choose from, just depending how you feel today and witch one to give it a hard ride...enjoy it my friend...

Marlon, I will post pics when I get her uncrated. Divorce isn't always bad...now I'm only paying MY bills! The plan is if I bin one, no waiting for a check, just hop on the other one if I'm not dead or broken

Hi Soz et. al
I guess any bike is subject to ...subjectivity. Of course the 916 is dated next to a 1098. Power wise etc. I also guess a Smart Imola 750 is also dated compared to a 750R etc. The 1098 is an awesome bike - no question. BUT, Add 15 years and it will be an overweight slug. Who cares? I am not a myopic Ducatophile ( that sure sounds illegal!- but only in NSW) but I was just saying that 916/996's were beautifully designed bikes and I don't care what Ducati designs in the future or how fast they go. To me, most of the new Dukes look like Jap rice burners - 1098/1198 included. As for the 1200, the designers copied the Honda Varadero - It is an abortion and I have spent a number of hours in surgery repairing my eyes from looking at this ... thing. There may be some Ducatisti who believe this ...thing to be beautiful. I don't. At the end of the day, who cares. Bike's looks are subjective.
If it feels good, feel it.

Hey hey darius,
Of course I am taking the piss. All Ducatis are artworks that Da Vinci would sell his grandmother for. (Except for the new 1200, the 1098 and the 1198 and especially that afterbirth 999).

I have to admit, I'm with Bullfrog on the 999 and most of the multi's regarding looks. Some love them (and I respect that) and I'm certain they are excellent for their intended purpose.
However, at the end of a day's riding I still like to be able to admire what I park in the Garage. It's a good thing that we can all gather here, united by a common interest but differing in our individual tastes, while still respecting each others POV.

A diplomatic reply. Yes, it is about asthaetics. Ultimately, I think of motorcycle designers as artists. Unfortunately many are colour blind, devoid of imagination and suffer from the MacDonald Syndrome. You want more fries wit' dat? Yo, you want it supersized? The results are horrendous with designs such as the the Suzuki Hayabusa, (and the Ducati 999 - okay firebomb my house). Many will say - do better. You are right - Unfortunately English teachers do not design too many bikes; they do buy them though. As to they most beautiful bike ever designed (apart from the 996) is the 916!

Ha, isn't bias great?!

Yeah...... Mum says I missed my calling and should have been a politician or a lawyer.....

I miss my 996 Bullfrog............ sadly I could not afford to keep it and get the Tricolore.... Here's a pic for your voyeuristic gratification.

Somehow I ended up with 2 Tricolores but would happily swap one to get this specific bike back if it's as well cared for as when I owned it.
