the 916 looks dated sitting next to a 1098, and it's performance is also dated.

That is not to say it still does not look nice, but it is still dated nonetheless.
 
The Beamer isn't that bad of a looking bike, and BMW is one of the smartest companies out there from an engineering standpoint, Everything they do is for a reason! The BMW will kick almost anythings ass on or off the track, and will totally destroy anything in its price range... pure and simply designing genius in my book, I want the S1000RR and will someday own on.
 
He said in a similar price range. So it would only be the base models for each manufacturer, not the race bikes. I agree with what he is saying. Of the 1000rr, R1, 1198, zx10r, aprillia, I think only the italian bikes could hang, R1 wouldn't have a chance.
 
Yes harth they do have some bugs. But year one of any bike is bound to have problems, right? Give it 2 or 3 years to evolve and it can only get better. I think we can expect great things to come from BMW.
