Hearing people complain and whine about ducati's....

Let me back of by saying Im trying to buy a fellow forum members 1098.

Back to my rant. Ive been gauging interest on my 2005 zx10r on a few other forums and have stated im moving to Ducati. You would think the world just ended. "omg i hope your ready for huge service fees, or why would u buy one of them when u can just get another 10r or R1 or etc." um, because, im sick of jap bikes and its my choice what i want to ride.

A few of my coworkers ride harleys. One of them asked me, "where are u going to ride a bike like that around here.? um, lol, on the road. You have 25k in your harley and you ride it "around here." Im going to do a few trackdays w/ it, "omg, are u nuts?"

I just got an email from my old neighbor, "u should buy an aprilia, much less headache." wow...

ive spent some time on 1098's and I love them. Im ready to be a Ducati owner. But, i may have to invest in a "back off" stick to keep these nimrods away from me and my bike. lol..

/rant.

Aprilia, less headache

But, I'll tell you, I'm not impressed with Ducati quality right now.

Of the 3 Ducati's I've bought in the last 4 years, the first was in the shop long enough to qualify for "Lemon Law", the 2nd was long enough to qualify for the "Lemon Law" 6 times, and the 3rd missed by half a week.

The last one, if I had the money; I would've shipped it to Cupertino, kicked on it's side, doused it with gasoline and lit the match

But it's soon to be fixed, and I'll probably buy another one again.

But, I'll tell you the last thing I want to hear from some 9xx owner with a total of 700 miles on his bike is, "Well, I've never had any problems"

Meh!......it is what it is.

Ducatis are alluring, exotic, different and yes, expensive.

I've never heard of anybody who buys a Ferrari for it's "reliability"......

Sure, but that's car vs bike. The analogy is all relative; I don't see many Forbes/Hollywood A-listers riding Gixxers....if you get my drift...

its just wierd.

im assuming most of it has to do w/ the area i live (not a big sportbike crowd, those who are, are squids) and the lack of intelligence. people are ignorant when it comes to stuff like that around here... if its not a harley or a chevy, they dont have a clue.. lol

Are they as reliable as the jappers? No
Are they as fast? No
Do they have glitches? Goddamn Italian electrics I say.

But to ride them it all falls into place. The chassis is soo stable and after a short time we understand why they are made the way they are. Such as why is the rear brake so weak. Then it hits you. It's only for trail braking.

They are a hard edge riding machine as opposed to a well refined do it all product. I won't give it up.

I'm happy to report my 2010 848 has had 0.0 problems. Granted it only has 3k miles on it but I think I would have found something wrong by now. I take care of it but I do not baby it. BTW who gives a rats ass what others say. If they don't like em don't but em. I have a CBR 1000rr also. No problems either. Just different bike for different reasons. Stuff like this reminds me of all the Nascar idiots. To brand loyal, and live with blinders on. Thats no fun.

funny, I have friends like that too...just can't handle it I guess...no understands till they ride one...tell you what, when I do ride with my friends no one even looks at their bikes...everyone hangs around the duc and they do call it a "duck"...How do you link your "duck"...or how much did you pay for it is another common question...
