It happened two days ago. It was the end of the school day. I was running down the stairs of the school to go catch my bus. On the stairs, there was something shiny. My shoe laces were untied and I think the tip of my shoe laces touched that shiny thing. Having no time to spare to look at it, I ran to the bus. On the way home, I realized that that shiny thing could've been mercury.

I forgot completely about the incident when i came home. I took off my shoes and placed it on the small carpet at the door way. Then, I realized that my shoe could contain mercury so I placed that shoe in a bag and placed it in a safe place.. After that, I went to take shower, eat and then I was watching TV. When I was doing my homework, my mom took her shoe out of the closet and put it on and was waiting on that carpet (where there might be mercury) for my dad. Then they went outside to shop i think. When the came home, mom brought groceries and there was a lot of groceries so she had to make several trips to the car and back to the kitchen. She went into the kitchen with the shoes on (the shoe that might have mercury).

My question, is my house mercury contaminated? Can mercury pass from object A to object B just like that? Am I going to die?
I cannot see any tiny drops of mercury at all.

By the way, i forgot that the small carpet at the doorway might be bad, so thats y i didn't do anything with it.

If you're wondering, I told my parents about the incident and they said y would there be mercury at school and they said that they handled mercury when they were young.
But, I'm really scared.
