Im so confused on what turtle to get, I need help to debate what kind of turtle to get.?

I am a beginner ive never had a turtle before. I want a small turtle that i can take out of the water and hold it. I have so many questions about turtles. Do land turtles live in water also? is there any small land turtles? just help me please.
 
try a yelow belly cooter but make sure you reasearch it and buy proper things for it (:
 
well land turtles aren't begginer turtles, but water turtles you can't really hold...if you want a land pick a russian tortoise they stay small and you can hold them..if you want a water turtle than get a painted turtle or common musk turtle they stay real small but don't really like being picked up so i just let them run around on my carpet as i watch...
