Ok,so many tried and used phoenix taking big risks of bricking there phone.
We have been asking for Nokia to come with a firmware updater.
And when they finally do it, what do we get? NOTHING, absolutely NOHING!
1)First of all you would think with all the time it took them to bring it out, they would have done their homework. But no, it still very risky business and you could end up with a very expensive paperweight. I still see way to many people bricking there phone with NSU.
2)Using the software is also a nightmare, for alot of people it doesn't even start up. And when it does, it has to go through that stupid update checker. You would think an update adds a few improvements, but what we actually see is a 16mb download....yes it fully re-downloads itself. What about putting the latest version online Nokia?
And when you finally want to get the firmware let's make the users wait, another 70+mb download. If it fails you get to start the program all over again (asuming that by now you didn't brick your phone).
You would think that the 70+mb download would be cached right? Nope, if you restart the program....lets let them download the entire firmware again.
For me this is just totally inacceptable, so many riscs to fix some bugs. I really love the NSERIES, but this entire updating thing is hell to me.
And if you brick your phone, let's play another fun game of "find the Nokia Centre that is located 100.000 of miles away".
I reallllyyyy want to update right now.....but I have that nasty thought about what happened to my N80.
Your thoughts and comments are welcome.
