...do you think of this menu? starter - selection of fine kettle crisps, salted peanuts and pretzels.

main course - cornish pasty, sweetcorn and gravy - proper english food

dessert - mandarins (from a tin, unfortunately) with squirty cream (everyone's favourite)

to drink - lambrini mixer (with lemonade) cheap but fresh and delicious

is this too over the top or not enough? thanks! i'm worried!
 
The starter sounds perfectly lovely :)
The main course...I'm not a big fan of English food, and it isn't really the classiest thing to serve your boyfriend. I'd go with something french or italian. But if your boyfriend likes english food, I'd go with something a little nicer then just a cornish pasty.
The dessert sounds a little bit simple, maybe you could go with something nicer, like a fruit salad, that way you can still use your original ingredients.
And the drink shouldn't be a problem at all
