I'm Not One to Complain! Help!

HELLO BOYS

New member
First I'll quickly introduce myself. I'm 17 and male. I never complain, if something is painful, I suck it up and keep my mouth closed. I rarely get sick. Last time I was sick was probably three years ago. Never been to an ER in my life. Only go to the doctor when forced by my mom.

Well on wed. I'm sitting in class about an hour before school is over and start feeling fever chills. So I'm like oh crap, I've got a fever. Went home and boy did I have a fever. My mom took my temp and it was 104.6. Only other symptom I had was a light stuffed nose. She asked if I needed to go to the doctor and I refused. She told me I had to stay in bed, cold wash cloth on my head, and I ended up going to sleep for three hours. Woke up took my temp and it was at 99-100. Alright so I move on with my life.

Everday since then I've been checkin my temperature and its been 99-100.5. Light stuffy nose is gone, and the only thing I have is a fever! My usual temperature is 97ish btw. So today I wake up, and notice my thumb is swollen...almost like a bug bite. Like if I moved my thumb it had that compressed feeling. Well as the morning progressed I start to get itchy, don't think anything of it...until I start seeing some hives. They seem to be coming and going. As I started to write this the webbed parts of my fingers were all red, now my right hand is fine and my left hand has a bit of redness. I've got one hive each on the lower parts of my thumb, identical positions. A patch of hives on the back of my right shoulder, and both backs of the knees. And a couple of other scattered hives. Now this is what scares me, I have a ton of hives on my lower back/buttox area. Almost covered. Something you would see on google images lol.

My fever is still staying the same. 99.7 when I wrote this. My fever and the hives maybe connected, maybe not. My gut feeling is that I got a spider bite right around when I woke up, as I saw a spider crawling from right above my wall. Quite a small black one. But it could be completely unconnected. Idk. Any thoughts? comments? ideas? Thanks!

Have you taken any medications in the last 2-3 weeks, either prescription or over the counter? If so, what?

If you have hives all over, that is probably what is wrong with your thumb, you have hives on it.

Nope not a thing!

My mom thinks it maybe something similar to rosiola. It makes sense. But I am a teen not an infant. Because I've only had a fever, and than hives.

Roseola causes a fine, red rash usually. Both of my boys had that when they were toddlers.

The reason I was asking about medications is there is a type of drug reaction that can cause a high fever and hives, along with a multitude of other symptoms. It can be caused by prescription or over the counter meds. and Advil is one of the biggest culprits. It's called Stevens Johnson Syndrome. You would be very ill by this point though.
