financial hardship? I would like to try and get umemployment (I quite my job willingly but had to foreclose my house causing me to move). Several people are saying I will qualify and should go for it but where do I apply? Im so confused because on the NY site it said you had to apply where you previously worked but on the CA website it said you must be able to look for work in CA while on unemployment. Does anyone know or can give me suggestions? My last day of work is next thursday and im leaving for NY on monday.
 
Since it is virtually impossible to contact the Calif EDD on the phone, apply for Calif UI online. There is no qualifications for "hardship" in Calif, and if you quit or were fired, you will not qualify for UI benefits. There are EDD offices that you can speak to someone in person, but the offices and hours are limited - this may be an option for you; the offices are on the EDD website. I hope you have employment lined up in NY or you may be going from one problem to the next :}
