I'm lost in the first round of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? How do I get out and...

...join the king? I've installed Oblivion on my laptop but I stupidly cannot escape the Natural Tunnels. You know, the first ones that lead out of the prison cell you start in? I've collected all the stuff I can, fought a few rats, and even snatched something small from a guard. However, I cannot find an escape route. All I end up with is a wooden door in the tunnels and the main one that the king and his guards went through. This game is really cool though and I love it so please don't recommend something else. You don't have to give a step-by-step thing as even a hint would be cool. That would make it more fun. Of course, I'd prefer a thorough answer but it's your choice. I just need to get out of that place. It's those tunnels with the skeleton, chest, well, and other stuff.

P.S. I'm playing as Brenton if that helps any. In addition, it's a PC version for my laptop.
 
if i remember correctly, i think it is to the right of the door, there is a path, rats attack you, after you kill them enter where they came out of. And if you are interested i also have some codes, which i rarely use in games, but is also fun at times.
press the key above the tab key, the one that has a little squigly line.
tgm-god mode
use mouse and click door,chest,gate,etc and type unlock and enter
type modpci or modpca, then gold or cash,then amount of money you desire
type modpci or modpca, then the name of attribute you wish to increase, then amount (if you go over the limit it will be lower)
