I'm looking to buy a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. How can I expect it to do offroad?

It has the TRD off road package. How will it compare to a 4X4?

Not as good. You have 2 drive wheels and no low range compared to 4 and a low range on a 4x4.
