I'm looking into picking up a sport bike in the near future, which would you choose?

Alright here's the deal, I am new to motorcycling. I am 19 years old 6'2'', 160lbs - (if you care to reference to bike sizing at all.) I have never ridden one before and I know that a newbie such as myself should look for something 500cc or lower if I want to really learn how to ride correctly, which I do. I am pretty bent on it being a sport bike and not a cruiser or anything else. I have looked into the recently redesigned 2008 ninja 250 and also at the ninja 500 (like a 2007). I know that the 250 will get boring quite quickly, but is it still the better choice of the two? It should have a much better resale value also I would imagine. Which would you choose, or feel free to offer up any other suggestions.

THE NEW 250 HAS GOOD SUSPENSION AND BRAKES, AND WOULD BE GREAT TO LEARN ON. THE 500 ALWAYS HAD POOR SUSPENSION. GO WITH THE 250, TAKE CARE OF IT AND IT WILL HAVE BETTER AND FASTER RESALE. THE ONLY WAY I WOULD CONSIDER THE 500 WAS IF IT WAS A REALLY GREAT DEAL IN COMPARISON.
