im looking for a way to extend the range of my xbox 360 wireless adapter and im not

sure if my ideas will work ok so i have a 360 (elite) and a standard xbox live wireless adapter im trying to exted its reception to get a broader selection of signals as well as better reception now i went on tigerdirect.com and price like attena extensions boosters and such and found that most of the attentenas come with a coaxil connection instead of usb so my question are 1 do i need the acctaully xbox adapter to be able to use the wireless feature or will any old attena with a usb connection do 2 if i need the acctual adapter its self can i just remove the attena and connect a new one with a longer cord so that i can place the attenta on the outside of my house so get better reception and 3 if i can just remove the attena what adapter do i need to buy to adapt it to my xbox the attena i wanna buy can be seen at this link http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3350614&CatId=374
