i cant really give allot of info but you play as a man with a gun and i remmber first going in to a mansion of somekind, i also remember a kid i knew told me to jump-climb(when you jump to climb something) the front wall of the house to get to this floating place, and the i basically kill monsters, i dont remember what kind of monsters, and the game itself was 2D and kind of a platformer, if you know something that even resembles this please answer, its a PC game
 
i dont know the exact game your talking about but it does sound quite similar to: Tomb Raider, like i said i dont know the exact game but tomb raider is quite similar to what you described.
