called or the authors name.? It was about a little girl who was abandoned on the side of the highway and somehow ended up living with her father in a shack. He was very abusive, had sex with women in the shack while the little girl was there, always drunk, etc... She ended up in a special class where she had a hard time adjusting but her teacher was really great to her. I think i remember that the little girl wouldn't talk either. This is a long shot but if you think you know what book Im lookig for, please help!! Thanks.
