...can be fixed easily? i was wondering if this car is worth buying, its a good car, 1995 eagle talon tsi awd it would be nice to have a turbo all wheel drive but im not too good with gears my friend owns a mechanic shop and can fix anything for me should i buy this/
 
. You did say the Price. That kind of makes a difference. A running Talon sells for $1200.
And a 13-yr old vehicle that's been driven rough WILL be a headache.
Tearing down the trannie might cost $500. Can you buy it for $500?
 
Although I have worked with mechanics for over 10 years and done everything from changing points to rebuilding motors, I wouldnt even consider pulling a gearbox down to replace a synchro ring.

The part itself would probably be reasonably inexpensive, but once you strip it, its best off to do bearings as well.

I wouldnt waste my time, Id just throw another gearbox in.

Keep this in mind, If the syncro is stuffed, the rest of the car will have problems as well.
