My boyfriend and I both agree that my roommate/second cousin is out of her damn mind.
First of all, she's trying to be something she's not. We come from a BAPTIST family...that's still my denomination, but her immediate family (who consider themselves black sheep of the family and with due reason....but I won't get into that, they brought it on themselves) are supposedly "HOLINESS."
I've never been confused about my sexuality, and my parents didn't feel the need to really raise me with an opinion regarding the LGBTQ (sp?) community (though it's obvious that they don't approve)....I'm moderately liberal, and I TRY not to discriminate against people based on their sexuality. I have gay/bisexual male friends that I love regardless of their orientation.
But my *dear* cousin (for lack of a better word) is so judgmental, always saying how "it's sad that they can't see the light" and they're "going to hell...it's a pity they can't get their lives together and live right."
I think I'm infuriated with her for the following reasons: As we're both biracial (African American/Native American), our people were discriminated against for years, based on skin color.....aka FOR NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON, yet she chooses to be a bitch about the situation.
As a Christian, she's always preaching we need to "love everyone." But....she's the biggest Tartuffe (religious hypocrite, for those who've read the play lol) because she's always casting judgment and pointing fingers.
I guess it's my own fault for agreeing to room with her.....smh. Next year is my last as an undergrad, and I swear I won't room with her again.
I'm not about to get into an argument with a damn fool who can't even see her own faults and hypocrisy, oh, and apparently I'm going to hell because I'm a "luke warm" Christian who listens to secular music....lmfao
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how to cope with this profound ignorance of hers? I think I've said all I can say to basically tell her that she's an idiot..but any suggestions are greatly appreciated...
