I'm 15 and have been teaching myself for just over a year now with open learning (ICS etc). I'm hoping to become a journalist, or something to do with the music industry. How do I go about getting a Placement Reference number and stuff like that? Plus, because I'm homeschooled, can I work in the week aswell?

You're still young and should strongly consider getting some college experience before doing so much work now. There are several free and low cost ways to go about this if you are willing to work hard. Go to CollegeBoard.com to learn all about the AP, CLEP, and online dual credit programs offered by your local community college. Then use AcademicEarth.org and cheap books from Half Price Books or Amazon.com to assist in your studies. AcademicEarth.org has free online video courses with downloadable material from major universities such as Yale, Stanford, and MIT. It helped my son tremendously. He also used MathTutorDVD.com to advance his math skills enough to CLEP the PreCal at the college to allow him to go straight into Calculus and earn an A. He was able to skip College Algebra, Trig, and PreCal which saved him alot of time and me alot of money, while earning his 2 math requirements and 9 hours toward his associates. Along with all the other AP, CLEP, and online dual credit courses he will be taking this (senior) year, he will have over 1/2 his associates by the time he graduates high school. When trying to apply for a job, this will show the potential employer how hard of a worker he is and will earn him alot of respect. You might also want to check out Brainetics.com to improve your calculating ability, memory, and focus. I haven't tried it yet but I plan to buy it this week when I get paid. If you do all this, your job opportunities will be much greater than what they are now and you will have a much better education. Good luck and work hard.
