I'm going away to camp for a month, and my parents are insisting I call every

day. Are they going overboard? I'm 17 years old (a high school senior). The camp is about 6 hours away. I've never really been away from home before and I understand that it's important for me to stay in touch. But I feel like it might be a bit of a hassle to call home everyday. Am I just being stupid and immature? I mean, I have no problem calling every few days and sending texts/emails everyday, but isn't calling everyday a bit much?
It's more like a pre-college thing, so I won't be in the woods too much ;)

That isn't that bad. I really doubt they expect you to have a long conversation with them every day. Actually maybe you should, just to drive them nuts, and they will tell you to stop calling. LOL. But really I am sure it would be just a five minute call. Right?

Yes. They know that they're going to miss you. After a few calls, they'll realize that it is not always convenient for you to call, and they're bound to ease up.

seeing as you've never really been away much, this could be an adjustment for your parents. when i go to camp, i call home everyday, even though i'm not asked too. i just call after i get out of the shower or before i go to bed at night. that way you can tell them about the days events. plus, it'll make your parents feel better too. and i'm don't think your being stupid and immature. i can understand where your coming from. but once you get to camp, you can see its not usually that much of a hassle. plus, if your really busy, you can always tell them that and say that you promise to call at least every other day. but tell them that while your at camp, not before you leave. that way, yall won't get in a fight(: good luck and have fun at camp(:

Not at all. You will be in the woods with creatures like bobcats, Bigfoot, bears, raccoons, snakes...and when you swim in the lake there could be snapping turtles, giant squid, gars...any number of creatures could take you down.
