I'm getting expelled from highschool with only 2 months until graduation

so.. I'm getting expelled from highschool with only 2 months until graduation... possibly.

forewarning- a long rant follows.

My dad is away from home and out in California, and gets a call from my school saying that he needs to come into school tomorrow to discuss my expulsion. Of course, he hadn't heard anything about it, nor had I and nor had my mom. So he calls me and tells me and asks me about it and I end up calling the school to figure out what I'm being expelled for.

So, I can't get through to anybody and end up talking with a teacher friend (head technology coordinator at my school) who doesn't know anything, but checks his email to find that my computer account has been suspended- meaning that it's probably something computer related.

I call my dad back, and he tells me he got through to the dean who told him that students' grades as well as a few teachers' final exams were found on my personal storage drive and were gotten by me hacking into the teacher drive (not a difficult task) and taking them.. so I wrack my brain for when I might have done this and figured out the last time I was on there was all the way back last september.

Some quick background- I, with a friend named Nick, went through the system last year in front of an administrator and showed them all the ways we had found around their restrictions. Something as simple as creating a shortcut to the teacher drive was sufficient for access- they pretty much just made the link invisible. This year was a bit harder, and quite honestly I don't remember exactly how we got into it, but we did, and just to check how the privileges had been laid out, I tried to copy a folder to my personal drive. It worked, and I pretty much left it at that and kept it in mind for my end-of-year report to the admins.

So the folder I copied was whatever was at the top of the list - APES, which stands for Advanced Placement Environmental Science. Worse yet, I'm currently enrolled in this class. I never examined the contents of the folder and while I was semi aware that it was there, I never thought to delete it or mess with it.. and, any person with a lick of sense would immediately delete a file that contained personal grades and teachers' finals if he knew it was there. So anyways, at some point my profile got flagged for being unusually large (any profile over 100MB was tagged) and when they went in to investigate what was so big, they found that folder that I copied.

So, because of this, I will be brought in tomorrow morning to debate whether or not I should be expelled, and while I can claim it was for a good use and would have been reported, I still technically fell onto grounds for expulsion by accessing teacher files which is a violation of the acceptable use pollicy.

For reference, if they found hardcore porn, I'd get a single (1) day suspension.

Obviously, expulsion at this point would totally fuck up my life. I'm already accepted at college for next year and this would prevent me from graduating, prevent me from college, and pretty much set my life back an entire year.

What really gets me about this is that I'm currently holding a 3.9 GPA, I'm an eagle scout, I have no previous referrals, I've been recognized by the township multiple times for good character and maturity, and yet, because of the school's no tolerance policy, I will most likely get expelled.:mfinger:

so much for sleeping tonight.
 
That really fucking sucks, man.
Zero tolerance policy = We're too thick headed and stupid to think through individual cases as they occur because that would require actual work and besides, we're sadistic fucks that enjoy crucifying the good kids as an example to the others while we let the same troublemaking fucks get away with shit time and time and time again with little more than a slap on the wrist if even that.

All I can say is: good luck, good luck, good luck, and please keep me updated because I'm concerned now. I went through something similar my senior year, but I got off ok and I'm in college now. Please please keep me posted.
 
Yes. That's usually how it is done in the hacker and IT communities.

Really hope things work out for you. Your GPA and eagle scout status should hold some weight, as should the fact that you did something similar last year with demonstrable good intentions. It will probably still be a very difficult fight, but I think that if you can prove that you did not examine the contents of the folder (file metadata perhaps?) then that should also help. Needless to say, most high school staff are technological idiots, so you probably also want to go see the IT people and try to get them to help support your cause. I went through a similar, but comparatively minor situation my senior year in HS. IT was helpful to me. I wouldn't get your hopes up, but at least try to do everything you can to prevent being expelled. Best of luck, that sucks, man.
 
I got expelled my junior year for breaking a kid's nose with my fist. I also went to juvenile hall for a week and had to stay in court for like 4 months. Discipline committees are asswipes. If you go to a private school and hit a kid paying full, expect to get expelled. Doesn't really apply to you're situation, but just wanted to let you know someone else's life sucks more than yours!

His situation sucks more than yours. He's an intelligent guy with a bright future ahead of him that has actually worked hard to get where he is.

You on the other hand, actually deserved your expulsion. You seem to have a penchant for hanging yourself. Which is why I'm still hanging around in Life Sucks. I'm still laughing at you.
 
Actually, I don't deserve an expulsion, but the kid does deserve a broken nose! You can only take so much. I made a mistake, this kid, well, I don't know what you would call it cause' it's not really his fault but I understand how a principal would see it.

On the other hand BEW, I have a 4.3gpa as well as perfect attendance my freshman and sophmore years. I also attended a private school that is 2 months ahead of the curriculum of all other public schools.

So, I guess you can shut your damn mouth!
 
Physical violence for anything but self-defense or the defense of one that cannot fend off an attacker is inexcusable and is always the resort of a barbarian that's not clever enough to think of another option.

And your academic record? I could believe you, I could disbelieve you. Doesn't matter. Just like your gpa. It doesn't matter. Why? Who do you think is going to hire you with a history of assault?
 
That sucks man i got kicked out of 5 middle schools but i have seen the error of my ways and am now almost though highschool. if you do get expelled. you could always try to do what I did when they kicked me out the reform militery academy. Transfer before it goes through that way it says transferred not expelled. good luck and keep your chin up
