I'm getting a PS3 and I'm thinking about getting a gaming computer?

I'm getting a PS3 for my birthday and i'm also going to get a job very soon so I plan on buying myself a TV that I could use for my PS3 but I also want a gaming computer except I cant afford one and I was wondering, if I have a PS3 will i really need a gaming computer? I wanna play games online thats about it.
