I live in NC so my soil is hard-packed clay. My intentions were to rent a small 1.5 HP tiller, buy some compost from a local company, and add garden soil and fertilizer to the mix. There are 2 areas: 1 front yard-3' x 8' and a large area in the back 8' x 25'. Here are my questions: What veggies will do well in my soil? Should I get the tiller for 1 day or 1/2 day? and should I get a more powerful one? Are there any further recommendations you'd make?
