I want to start off by saying that in my life I've gained a working knowledge of both Catholicism and Lutheranism and by no means are any of my questions meant to be offensive. If someone out there can answer them better than the clergy I've spoken to, I'd be appreciative.
1) In the book of Genesis it's stated that the first four people on the planet were Adam, Eve, Cain, and Able. Since we know that Cain killed Able, we can narrow it down to three people to procreate and populate the planet. Only one of these three is a woman and they're all related by blood. How did the human race survive without being obvious incestuous accidents of genetics?
2)Keeping with the idea of all the plants and animals being created, why are domestic cats never mentioned in the Bible?
3)Operating by the Bible's time-line the Earth is just barely under 2.5k years old. Science disproves this, why was the Bible not edited to show this?
4)Sticking with Genesis, I've got a question about Noah's ark. Considering there are over 4 million (only .1% of all the different species of animals that have ever existed) how could the ark hold even half those animals on a boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet deep?
5)It's been proven that the title "Virgin" was given to Mary (The Mother of Christ) after Christ died, so why is it still believed that she was impregnated by immaculate conception? Isn't it possible that like most couples do, Mary and Joseph got busy before they were married?
6)Speaking of alterations to the Bible, why was it edited so much? For an example, Exodus 22:18 says, "Suffer not a witch to live." Originally that was "Suffer not a prisoner to live."
7)Why are so many Christians ignorant of the fact that Jesus was born in either late September or early October, instead of on what is called Christmas Day? If one looks at the astronomy involved and factors in the seasons, it's clear that he was born then instead of on the date that Christians selected centuries later (mostly in an effort to convert the Pagans) Of course, strictly speaking, I suppose the same qualifies for Easter as well, it was originally a fertility ritual.
That's all the questions I have for now, although I'll probably be posting more later on. If someone can help in answering them, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
