someone who is good at open forum debate, and knows a lot about marijuana please help?
I have two inherency points-side effects and education. I need one more and I have two harm points-health and expenses.

btw im in 8th grade this debate is fer school.

Consider those driving under the influence of marijuana. It's just as dangerous as drunk driving. That should help you with your debate.

Blessings to you!

First of all - you need to change the wording as it is not legal - if you are in the US in general. It would be more appropriate - for your debate - to say What should the legal status of marijuana be"

Legal

1 - It is, in actuality, no more dangerous than alcohol
2 - It has medical uses
3 - Legalizing it would lessen police activity - leaving more room for attention to more offensive crimes. It can be taxed - a revenue for the US and a revenue for other countries as well.

Illegal

1 - It causes the desire to eat - causing obesity
2 - It does impair reflex response time (so does alcohol - but two wrongs doesn't make a right)
3 - It does cause dependence and is mind altering
4 - Legalizing it may lead to more activity in other illegal drugs being pushed into the US - if cannabis is controlled and legal - the drug cartels lose revenue and must move onto other means of making money by pushing even more dangerous drugs into the US

haha there is no reason why it shouldn't be legalized.
Alcohol is just as harmful as weed, but at least when your high on weed you can somewhat control yourself. When your drunk you can't control yourself at all. Legalizing weed would help the economy. People are willing to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to feed there "addiction". If the government sold it not only would the economy gain a lot of much needed money they could possibly put an end to some of the drug related crimes. I'm not saying I think its the best idea but if thousands of people are willing to give money to criminals with a chance they can serve jail time why not just let them give the money to the government let them do what they please and not use our tax dollars to keep them in jail when they get busted for possession.

Well marijuana is technically less dangerous than alcohol because it is harder to O.D. and someone who is high is often more lucid than someone who is drunk. Marijuana can also be used for healing because it relieves pain and relaxes the individual. It is not a physically addictive drug but psychological addiction (wanting it cuz it feels good or is an escape) is very high. However, mj can reduce someone's memory horribly. It's a pretty common joke about how potheads will start a sentence with lots of clauses and then won't remember what they were going to say. Secondhand smoke can cause cancer. And driving or operating machinery while high is ... not a good idea. Also a lot of people think that marijuana is a gateway drug. I think marijuana should be legal but whatever.
