So I'm 14 and I have a very large ugly nose. I visited a surgeon and he said it could be easily fixed.. However his recommendation and my parents' preference was to get it for my 15th birthday. So This summer I would be getting a nose job.

I am so uncomfortable with it and I feel ugly, kids made fun of it in the past and now that I'm in high school, no ones that immature, but it feels like people stare at it.

Guys have called me attractive before, but my nose has done some really bad things to my self esteem.

BUT, I really want to be a runway model, my body works, and I know that runway modeling agents looks for unique faces. I have a unique face, I have thinner, even lips high cheekbones and large brown eyes that receive many compliments, and of course my nose.

So if modeling agents look of things like a trademark nose, and unique faces, should I keep my nose?

I love fashion, its all a passion of mine and modeling would be a dream come true for me..If modeling agents accept my nose then my self esteem will be stronger, after all modeling agents don't look for that pretty girl, they look for strong looks seen as high fashion, and I have seen women with my nose on the runway.

I would love some advice.

Thank you in advance.

Hun, if you are even second guessing this in the LEAST i would say don't do it. You are going to have a lot of time to think about this and when you get older, upperclassmen, college, etc, you come to be more confident in yourself and your looks. I'm not that against cosmetic surgery; it's your choice. The only thing I would advise is a bit patience. You are too young now to know what you'll like for the rest of my life, you know? I'm not trying to be condescending, geez I'm only 17 and I know that the things I wanted last year I would hate now. So avoid getting permanent things haha.

And for the modeling, i would agree with you. If you had surgery you would be given a very generic nose. The nose you have is meant to suit your face. Agents are looking for models who will stand out from the rest rather than appear like another generic pretty face. Uniqueness is a big thing.

So don't do it right now. Wait until you are 18, or a few more years at least, and see how you feel then.

Hope this helps you :)

I'm sure it's not as bad as you think, you should have posted a picture of your nose!!! I wouldn't laugh. I guess you could go ahed and get it done, but how can you be sure the surgeon will do a good job? it may ruin your modelling chances, if he does it poorly. Don't have low self esteem, try not to care what people think. That attitude oftens attract people to you. So good luck with your peers and your nose!

Wait until your 20s to decide. You're face is still developing.

People used to make fun of my huge nose all the time. Know what happened? When I grew up, they matured and got over it. Now I feel great.

Because teens are still developing, many physicians warn against the dangers of plastic surgery. The financial burden for plastic surgery is both huge and uncovered by insurance because it is elective, except in medically necessary cases.

Premature Reconstruction
As a teenager, not all aspects of development are fully in place, making surgery premature, dangerous and possibly unnecessary.
Celebrities are Airbrushed

Most teens are chasing false perfection. They base their decision to have fuller lips, perfect noses, larger breasts or a flatter stomach on celebrity and pop images. These images are usually airbrushed or photoshopped.

Warning
Complications can very easily arise with plastic surgery, including death, infection and scarring.
