...what the requirements are? I'm 18 years old I'm supposed to be a senior but due to family emergency I had to drop so therefore I do not have a diploma, will this be problematic? (I'm obtaining my ged late this month or early next month) It seems like I just can't catch a break, I can't find a job and my car is having problems and things of that nature which puts me in a bind, my back is pretty much against the wall at this point and my uncle suggested I join a union such as the carpenters union or painters union. Personally I haven't the slightest clue as to which I would enjoy more or if there is another union out there that would potentially fit me better. I plan on going to college (at least community college) and getting some kind of degree but until then if I do join a union will they help me find employment? Am I even qualified? What can I expect if I do join? I don't really understand the whole concept of it, it just seems like a very vague premise to me and I would appreciate some insight into what the requirements are, how it will benefit me, and things of that sort. I reside in northern california as well if that makes any difference.

thank you very much for your time and answers :)
