I'm considering getting a Wii - convince me!

It seems cool, but it also seems like all the motions would get tiring... I'm considering getting Madden and Zelda. Won't it get old having to do all these motions for the Wii?

Also, about the system in general... what are your general thoughts and opinions?

I'm on the fence regarding shelling out ~$300 for the wii, an extra remote, and an extra nunchuck. I do most of my gaming on PC and recently picked up an x360 which doesn't really get much playtime. The games released for the x360 don't really justify its price tag (yes, I'm talking about gears of war too). I'm really into FPS, RTS, third person action, and driving/snowboarding games.

I'm interested in the wii because I think it has the potential to entertain a lot of friends who come over who normally wouldn't go near my x360 (let alone my pc).

I didn't even second think it. I defintely want to try a different gaming experience especially one that caters for people to come over and get drunk and start swinging shit at each other.

you dont have to make huge sweeping movements to play games on this system, simple wrist movements will work just fine and are not tiring at all. Of course, sometimes it is more fun to do that especially when you are playing something like Wii-sports. The system itself is awesome. compact and whisper quiet and the Virtual console will own all once the library has been built up a bit

I will probably pick Zelda up if I get a wii. The last Zelda game I played was 'A Link to the Past' in 91 or so. I know Zelda is one of Nintendo's bread and butter series, but I can't get over the fact that there is zero voice acting in Twlight Princess. That's lame

I don't think you can go wrong with that. wii + Zelda + remote + nunchuck + sports for $350 is a deal in my opinion. I would consider trading in my x360 if Forza 2 wasn't on the horizon. There's nothing else I'm looking forward to on the xbox that I'm aware of.

heres a pretty good analogy i think:

when you dont have a wii you think of using an xbobx controller as like using a mouse with your computer, but then after you stat using the wii remote you come to realize that the wii is like using a mouse with your computer, and a normal controller is like a touchpad on a laptop.

thats the best way i can think of to describe it.

it seems more like you are in the game when you play on this console. its very fun to play, and well worth the $250, with a free game (which is fun as fuck) included.
