Im cheap - mpx220 or dish out for 6680?

On ebay, I can find the mpx220 for under 200$ and the Nokia 6680 around 320$ , both with shipping.


Im having a hard time finding why the mpx220 is no longer so popular on these boards. The 6680 is still used as a suggestion here, though the n70 seems to be taking the upper hand, but its out of my budget.

Personally, I couldnt give more of a damn about camera quality, its only a novelty item. I got a sharp 703SH with a beautiful camera and I only use it for snapshots with friends that arent about "quality".

So why should I go for one or the other?

All I need it to do is to have those

- Good mp3 player (preferably better in menue selection and browsing and multitasking than just sound quality)

- Nice screen (anything lower kills my eyes since I got used to my Sharp 703SH)

- Camera, just for quick snapshots of quick events, nothing fancy

- Some sort of application ability like to run instant messenger, lots and lots of games, without the hassle of going through all those WAP download limitations (my 703SH wont run java games that werent downloaded via WAP)

- have an expansion memory slot

- To be a pretty phone, im highly fashion concious I dont care if its flip phone or not - PS I think the razor is an ugly phone

- the 850 band is always good for Canada for going underground or far away, but it isnt a purchase decision making criteria.
 
I cant find the 6682 unlocked, and im sure it would cost a fortune if it existed.

6680 is mass produced in OEM form, so that one is quite available.

But as I said, the 850 band is only a "bonus". The phone can live using 1900.
 
No im not limiting my choices cause of I want a smartphone, but I do like the wide range of options that comes with an OS like S60 and WMP 2003

Im extremely borderline close to buy myself a new cellphone but im just torn apart.

Im on a budget, so money matters and I dont want to pass the 300$ mark.

Im torn between the Nokia 6680 and the MOTO mpx220.

Here's the thing, the Moto MPX220 comes under 200$ and the Nokia comes just over 300$ (all eBay prices with shipping). So I got a cash incentive here.

ALSO unlike the mpx220, the 6680 does not have the 850 band, which is useful for North America for getting reception in buildings and far from population centers. I cant find the 6682 unlocked for 300$ on ebay.


Now why I dont go fo rthe MPX220 right away is because it has a consistent report of it falling apart. Always something breaking on it, and since im buying off eBay, Im not too certain of Moto's warranty.


But I dont go straight for the 6680 cause I find myself torn on the price for it, and .... I dont know.... I never used Symbian 60 before, and the WMP 2003 for mpx220 looks pretty.

What I really want in my cellphone is good mp3 playback along with a good menue for it. I plan to use it as my city mp3 player, since I always carry my phone with me.

I want a good screen, I got a Sharp 703SH and the screen is 256k QVGA and BEAUTIFUL! You wouldnt believe how great it is... then again, the graphics depend also on how pretty the menues are... which comes to my other point.........

I want customizability. I hate to be limited in the looks of my current cellphone... mpx220 and nokia 6680 can be customized, but which one can do best?

I WANT GAMES YAY!!! My Sharp 703SH is SUPERB at mp3 playback, but cant play games, unless its WAP downloaded back in Japan, and I HATE that. I want to run ALL sorts of fun happy games, 2d style. I know the 6680 can run a SNES emulator, but i heard its slow, anyhow....

Help me out guys.... Im leaning towards the 6680 so far, as it is a nokia, solidly built (Ive held it before), but the mpx220 is cheaper, has the extra 850 band, and faster processor.... but it can fall apart, or so I hear.

Ohhh notice I didnt talk about cameras? ya... I got a tiny exilim camera, that does the job, my Sharp 703SH camera is nice too, but when I take pictures, it doesnt matter for the quality, they are souvenir pics.. so the camera aspect that is crap for the mpx220 isnt an issue.


So... help out a lost chap? I want a new toy, a fun toy. A toy with lots of trinkets, bells and whistles software wise. I dont care for the outlook sync, or the office stuff, I like entertainment, that isnt limited to my cellphone carrier.
 
I dont know, whats special about the 6620? Can it run SNES emulators, lots of apps etc? I know it runs on S60 too, but its an older model and looks... bad

Im reluctant on the 6620, maybe cause it looks bad, maybe cause its under the 6680, maybe i dont know enough about it. Ill read up.

Im gonna be on prepay I came from from Japan (hence the 703SH) and I dont like... errr... I HATE the monthly packages offered here in Canada, so I decided to get no contract.

Anyhow, with the comparison, which I did but window to window (good trick you did though) I settled for the 688...2 ya I found a good deal on ebay for an unlocked 6882 at the same price as a 6880 from a powerseller.

All is right with the world now I just gotta wait till it arrives and prepare software toys for it.
