basically what im trying to say is that my recruiter told me that im going to join bout dnt go to basic till i get my diploma so wat does that mean like do i get pay and stuff and get a uniform explain please

I think it means that you need to get your high school diploma. My mom's boyfriend was in the Air Force and he graduated high school before going into the military. He told me that he didn't go to college, so I'm pretty sure your recruiter is telling you to get your high school diploma if I'm not mistaken...

No you don't get paid, nor do you get a uniform. You will be on delayed entry. Which means the time you spend in the delayed entry program(DEP) is counted towards your 8 year commitment.

For example: When you first enlist you have an 8 year commitment to fullfil. Say you spend 6 months in the DEP. Once you enter active duty for BCT & AIT your commitment is down to 7 years and 6 months. Then say you spend 4 years on active duty. Now your commitment time is down to 3 years and 6 months. During that remaining time you have three options. You can stay on active duty, aka reenlist. Go into the either the national guard or the active reserves. Or you can spend that time in the Individual Ready Reserves(IRR).

Remember, once you enter the IRR you are still subject to recall to active duty if needed.

I hope this helps.
