I started taking Luvox (Fluvoxamine) a few mnths ago for OCD, anxiety, depression and have been at 200 mg's for about 6 weeks now. I found that the first mnth my anxiety skyrocketed, but I gave it some time, because I realize that it may get worse before it gets better. For about 2 weeks I started to feel better and more positive that it may be working. However, the last few days my OCD, anxiety, and depression seem to be increasing again. I'm scared. I thought Luvox was suppose to be a great drug for OCD. I was also on Zoloft for several years that fizzled out on me then Celexa (Citalopram) that worked great for about 8 mnths then fizzled out on me. Could it be I just need a higher dose? Or could it mean I have to try another. This scares me because there are only a limited nuraber to choose from.

I believe the max dose for Luvox is 300 mgs, so you have some room to go up. I would probably try a completely different class of antidepressants, like an SNRI. SNRI’s aren’t specifically prescribed for OCD like SSRI’s are, but it may still work.

I agree with Extremely Wired. I would try talking to your psychiatrist about upping the dose first, and if that didn't work, see about trying a SNRI. I'm currently taking Cyrabalta because my Prozac stopped working, and I have OCD and general anxiety. Don't feel too bad if the Luvox doesn't work. I have always heard Celexa was good for OCD, but it made my anxiety a hundred times worse.
