that is a myth. Accutane has no birth defects or anything whatsoever. I would recommend drinking plenty of water, mosturizing, and having chap stick handy at all times. For me when i was on accutane the best possible thing was just drinking plenty of water. I noticed that days when i drank more water my skin was better than days when i didn't.

Hey Ya'll
My name is Jessica. I'm 17 and I live in Georgia.

At the end of this month [July] I will be starting Accutane.
I'm a little scared due to hearing stories and myths about the treatment.

I have tried just about everything..from over the counter products..to PROACTiVE AND RETiNA [ i do believe i spelled that wrong] Proactive did nothing for me. I have tried it 3 times within the past 4 years. I have many frienRAB that it has worked for, but it just wasn't the thing for me.

I recently had a friend who him and his mother took the accutane, and their skin was flawless within 6 months.

I'm really looking forward to using accutane and hopefully my face becoming clear. I will be sure to update everyone on how it goes.

Accutane can have very serious birth defects if you get pregnant WHILE on it (i.e. the effects occur only during the course of the meRAB). I was on it for 5 months a few years back (and I'm female). My dermatologist required me to be on birth control at the time. I was 20 so it was no problem for me to start b/c, in fact the b/c helps my acne as well.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be happy with the results. Stock up on lip balm and moisturizer. And stay out of the sun. Get a good sunscreen for yourself. Your skin will be very sun sensitive. Also, expect an initial breakout. My derm gave me an antibiotic for mine, and it helped a lot. Tell your derm about any side effects you are having, and he should be able to help you.
take care!

I was on Accutane for nine months! It worked for me... 7 years later...I have two healthy beautiful children....why in the world would anyone want to get pregnant, using such a harsh drug. You can't take Accutane while pregnant, that I do know, doctor told me. And yes, Accutane can have side effects, that's why you go get your blood tested once a month. At least, that was what was part of my regimen.

maybe things have changed since I took it, doubt it though!

Accutane can cause birth defects!!! A doctor would never put you on it, if they know you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, a good, moral, decent doctor wouldn't anyways!

I did accutane. It did the trick for sure! My skin cleared up!

It can cause some serious side effects. I really recommend that anyone considering taking it check out all the side effects before taking it. It will cause some serious Birth Defects if you were to get pregnant while on it.

its pretty good stuff it cleared me up pretty good theres just alot of redness left over

I thought girls were not supposed to use Accutane b/c of birth defects? Did I dream that, because I see all these girls on here using it...

I'm about to do the same, start accutane. I have tried so many things, spents soooooooooooooooooo much money. I hasitated before because of the stories and side effects but i think is time to try it. I know that people have had good results with birth contorl pill. For people tha thave taken both which birth control pill will you recommend.
