I’m writing this because
You need to know
That I care
I’m writing this
To warn you
To tell you
Nobody’s to be trusted
Even yourself

Especially yourself.

I’m writing this because
Maybe I won’t see you tomorrow
And it will all be too late
I’m writing this
For every word left unspoken
For every time I needed someone there
And looking past the obvious

I’m writing this
In place of all the times
I didn’t talk
When I needed to
I’m writing this because
I want to confuse you
Forcing this to be reread
Again and again
Getting something out of it
Each time

I’m writing this
For all of the times I should’ve said,
”I love you.”
And didn’t.
I’m writing this
To say good-bye.
